Showcasing Smart Security + Energy Solutions at the EFMA Fall Trade Show

READ

This year’s EFMABC Annual Fall Trade Show brought together facility managers, operations leaders, and vendors from across British Columbia, and Talius was proud to be part of it. The event offered a valuable opportunity to connect directly with schools and district representatives, hear their challenges firsthand, and share how our products are helping to make educational spaces safer, more comfortable, and more energy efficient.

Understanding Today’s Security Challenges

One of the key takeaways from this year’s show was the growing concern around school security. Across the province, administrators and facility teams are looking for reliable, long term ways to protect students, staff, and property. From vandalism to break ins, the need for physical deterrents has become more pressing than ever.

At Talius, we believe that safety should never come at the expense of aesthetics or functionality. That is why our Rollshutters have become such a trusted solution. They combine durability and design, offering schools a versatile layer of defense that blends seamlessly with the building’s architecture. Rollshutters can secure doors, windows, and other vulnerable entry points, providing immediate peace of mind after hours or during lockdown situations.

Beyond Security: Tackling Energy and Comfort Challenges

But security is not the only issue schools face. During the show, many attendees spoke about rising energy costs and the challenge of maintaining comfortable classroom temperatures, especially in older schools without modern HVAC systems. That is where our Habitat Screens shine.

Habitat Screens are designed to block solar heat before it enters the building, reducing indoor temperatures by up to 13°C. This translates into a more comfortable learning environment for students and staff while lowering the strain on cooling systems. In many cases, schools have been able to reduce their reliance on air conditioning altogether, helping cut operational costs and carbon footprints at the same time.

Smarter Solutions for a Better Future

As we showcased at EFMA, Talius is not just a product manufacturer but a partner in building smarter, more sustainable learning environments. Our integrated approach means schools do not need to choose between safety and energy efficiency. With both Rollshutters and Habitat Screens, they can achieve total building protection from intruders, heat, glare, and energy waste.

We are proud to be ahead of the curve when it comes to technology, usability, and performance. Our systems are built with precision, backed by years of expertise, and tailored to meet the specific needs of public institutions such as schools.

Looking Ahead

The conversations we had at EFMA were inspiring. They reminded us that the work we do has a direct impact on communities by helping schools stay secure, comfortable, and energy conscious. We are excited to continue building relationships with districts across the province and to see more Talius solutions protecting classrooms in the months ahead.

Because at the end of the day, a safer, cooler, and more efficient school means a better place to learn, and that is something we are proud to support.
